Rhythmic Breathwork - to support deep cathartic release
This is a masculine form of breathwork as it is yang and active.
What does it involve?
30 mins of active intense breathing with breath holds between each chakra.
30 mins is broken up into 7 cycles of intense over breathing, approx 4 mins per chakra followed by a breath hold.
There is an emphasis on nasal breathing, with an very active forceful exhale through the nose
You are seated in a circle, however you may lay down at any time
You are told when to inhale and exhale, and guided for how long you hold your breath.
As you are over breathing, you are consciously choosing to bring the body into state of flight/fight, activating the central nervous system.
This is to allow any unprocessed emotions to be completed and released that may have been suppressed /unprocessed from previous traumatic events, allowing for the nervous system to have 'clear out' which then allows you to come state of rest + digest. This is a type of exposure therapy. Often people unconsciously control their emotions, leaving them feeling very tense and that they cannot rest. As this breathwork supports feeling and completion of any unprocessed emotions often people experience an aftermath of calm, peace and clarity.
Active Breathwork to settle an over active mind.
This type of breathwork is heavily guided which can help people who struggle to be present, focus and surrender to the breath + body.
In this breathwork, the mind focuses on the guided instructions of the rhythmic pattern of breathing which helps focus your attention on the breath allowing you to come into a meditative state.
It is a powerful technique which offers people who struggle to meditate access into deep states of meditation and shifts in consciousness.
